Shrunken Apple Heads in Citrus Cider

This is one of those things that your kids will get a huge kick out of.  When my kids saw this they thought it was the best thing ever plus it makes your halloween party even spookier!  Make this on Halloween and everyone will love it.  Plus, the citrus cider is very delicious!

1/2 c. lemon juice
2 t. salt
4 large Granny Smith apples (any kind will work)
16 whole cloves
2 gallons apple cider
1 can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed

1.  In a small bowl combine lemon juice and salt, set aside.  Slice apple down the center, making two equal halves.  Remove peels and core.  Using a sharp paring knife, carefully carve a face into each rounded apple half.  Dip each apple into lemon juice mixture for 1 minute on each side.  Drain on paper towels.

2.  Arrange apple heads on a cookie sheet and bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours or until apples begin to dry and shrivel and skins are lightly browned.  Cool on wire rack.  Insert gloves into each eye socket.

3.  Just before serving, combine apple cider and lemonade concentrate in a large punch bowl.  Float heads in cider and enjoy!
